LUXURY HOSPITALITY

Il Bottaccio Boutique Art Hotel

Il Bottaccio is one of those special places that I love introducing to travel advisors and their clients.

Hidden among the peaceful hills behind Forte dei Marmi, it is an intimate Relais & Châteaux with only eight individually designed suites. What I find particularly beautiful is that it feels more like a private residence than a traditional hotel. Every corner has its own personality, enriched by an extraordinary art collection, carefully chosen furnishings and details that tell the story of the property.

I also love its location, because it allows guests to experience two very different sides of Versilia. They can spend the day enjoying the beaches, boutiques and lively atmosphere of Forte dei Marmi, then return to the tranquillity of Il Bottaccio, surrounded by gardens and centuries-old olive trees.

For travellers who appreciate art and culture, there is so much to discover nearby. Pietrasanta, with its galleries and artists’ studios, and the spectacular marble quarries of Carrara are both essential experiences. After a day of exploring, guests can return to Il Bottaccio to enjoy refined cuisine, warm hospitality and the pleasure of being genuinely looked after.

I recommend Il Bottaccio to couples, honeymooners, art and food lovers, and experienced travellers looking for a more private and soulful way to discover Tuscany.

What makes Il Bottaccio so extraordinary?

  • Only eight suites: I believe its intimate size is one of its greatest strengths. Every guest receives personal attention, and the atmosphere remains peaceful and private.
  • Two different sides of Versilia: Guests can enjoy the energy of Forte dei Marmi and then retreat to the quiet of the hills. It is the ideal combination of coast, countryside and culture.
  • An extraordinary connection with art: Art is not simply part of the décor; it is part of Il Bottaccio’s identity. This creates a beautiful connection with nearby Pietrasanta and Carrara.
  • Suites that tell a story: Every suite is different and filled with character. One of my favourite details is the suite incorporating the original gears of an ancient olive press—a wonderful reminder of the property’s history.
  • Genuinely personal hospitality: This is what makes the experience truly memorable for me. With only eight suites, the team can take care of every guest with warmth, discretion and thoughtful attention.
